Archive of Endangered Spaces delves into the impact of climate change on the world's landscapes, utilizing advanced technology to extract data from various endangered natural ‘spaces’. The exhibition explores the relationship between digital and physical worlds, the process of scanning and fabrication and the intersection of science and fiction. The archive aims to not only document the changes happening in our world, but also to provide a platform for exploration and understanding of the impact of climate change. It is a call to action for us to take responsibility for our planet and work towards preserving it for future generations.
The exhibition showcased our first entry into the archive: The Svalbard Icescapes. Using cutting-edge technology, we extracted dense clouds of data from the depths of Svalbard's glaciers to capture the traces of their changes. The Svalbard icescapes provide a powerful reminder of the fragility of our planet and the importance of taking action to protect it. The archive will continue to expand with new locations and new perspectives on endangered spaces, as we investigate new methods and technologies to enable future generations to discover spaces that are being altered.
